Service Learning at Panti Jompo Sahabat Baru

Panti Jompo Sahabat  Baru (Jalan Sahabat Baru No.39, Jakarta Barat)
CB Active Service Term 1 (27 August 2016 and 24 September 2016)

We were very happy to visit grandpa and grandma there. We saw that they were very happy to share about their life in the past. they share about their children. some of them were crying when the students asked the question.
Yeah..indeed, we learned that we have to honor our parents in any condition they have now. Maybe they are old now and they can not do anything, but they still our parents. We have to take care of them with all of our heart.
"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” ( Ephesian 6:1-3)

  8. Joining this service learning gave me a precious experience and a lesson that there are people who are less fortunate than us. And that we need to take good care of our parents as they have took care of us since the day we were born. i learn that little things can mean so much to an individual, as small as a little smile can make someone's day to brighten up.

  23. It was a new and unique experience, I'd never gotten the chance to really interact with elders before. It was really interesting to learn about the lives and experiences of people who'd gome through a long life of ups and downs. It was a lot of fun singing with them and seeing a smile on their faces. I learned a lot from this excursion about the lives of those socially different from me.

  28. A fun and new experience it was indeed. This excursion has taught me to help and care for the elders by lending them our ears for us to listen to their untold stories, our shoulders for them to shed tears and our endless love for them from us

  31. This experience is indeed an amazing one. I learnt a lot from this trip and it has taught me how to care, share and help the elders. It is a simple task to do, to listen to their stories, but it takes a big heart to do so.
We should show our love towards them so that they could feel our compassion towards them.
Looking forward to more active services #byjocelynvincentiajapentoandjozzie "you should give me a shoutout!!!!!!" -jocelyn s2w

  39. During this trip, I learnt multiple lessons and made memories that will last forever. It was very rewarding and heartfelt to be able to visit these elderly people. It taught me that life is full of ups and downs and that eventually, there will be someone to take you in and care for you.

  41. As being the first active service I joined, I was still confused what to say and do and I felt really awkward. Although this, at the end, we shared stories together and fed them food too. I realized that there are people out there that are lacking in so many ways and I realized how lucky I am

  42. It was a fun and unforgettable experience. We communicated with each other. The elderly shared their life stories. Through their story, I learned to respect and care for my parents.
